Home health aides play essential roles in the lives of many patients living in their homes needing continuous care. This training will help you qualify to perform routine clinical and healthcare-related tasks and personal tasks that help the patient live as independently as possible.

Home Health Aid is a 5-week program in which students are taught both theory and skills needed to assist the patient and their families in their homes. Home Health Aide works under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to provide safe care for patients who choose to remain in the comfort of their homes. They perform tasks such as: 

  • Taking and monitoring vital signs
  • Administering prescribed medications
  • Reporting the patient’s condition to the physician or nurse
  • Eating, Feeding, Toileting
  • Walking the patient
  • Bathing the patient
  • Performing light housekeeping duties
  • Preparing patient meals
  • Laundering
  • Other activities

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a certificate.

What is not included

  • Watch with a second hand
  • TB skin test, chest x-ray
  • COVID-19 test (PCR)
  • Physical exam 
  • Police record 
  • Drug screen/test
